CHIROPRACTIC HELPS TO BALANCE & REALIGN YOU SO THAT YOUR BABY CAN INNATELY MOVE IN YOUR PELVIS INTO THE BEST POSITION FOR BIRTH.

WHY SHOULD I GET ADJUSTED DURING PREGNANCY?

Women who have gotten adjusting during pregnancy have been shown to have (1,2):

Decreased use of forceps
Decreased low back pain
Decreased blood pressure
Decreased risk of pre-term delivery
Decreased carpal tunnel
Decreased SI joint pain
Decreased time in labor
By 24% in first births
By 33% for 2+ births

Additionally, during pregnancy, a special hormone is released to relax ligaments & open the pelvis to prepare for birth. It’s called Relaxin: it flows throughout a woman’s body & has a loosening effect on all her joints.

This means that pregnant momma’s go in & out of alignment more easily! Regular chiropractic care throughout pregnancy can be beneficial for helping maintain alignment of the spine and pelvis and promote momma’s optimal nerve and body function.

Many of our pregnant moms report…better sleep, better balance, fewer discomforts like sciatica, heartburn & constipation, having a stronger immune system, and better positioning for the baby.

For a woman in labor, being able to contract or relax the pelvic floor is vitally important to allow the baby to move through the birth canal, especially when crowning. Studies have shown that certain obstetrical exposures may be more traumatic to the pelvic floor, particularly forceps delivery or a prolonged second stage of labor and sphincter lacerations (Episiotomy).

Since the pelvis and sacrum are the base of the spine and connected to the pelvic floor, sacral subluxations (misalignments) will have an adverse effect on delivery. Research has demonstrated that adjusting pregnant women appears to relax the pelvic floor muscles which may result in fewer medical interventions during delivery. (3)

IS IT SAFE TO GET ADJUSTED DURING PREGNANCY?

Chiropractic is safe & effective during pregnancy.

Not only can routine chiropractic care help manage pain in your back, hips, & joints, it can also establish pelvic balance.

Chiropractic care also helps your baby have as much space as possible over the course of your pregnancy.

Don’t Assume Pain During Pregnancy is Normal. IT’S NOT!

WHICH TRIMESTERS CAN I GET ADJUSTED?
HOW SOON CAN I GET STARTED?

We can help at any stage. If a woman is thinking about conceiving, in her first trimester, or 40 weeks pregnant and anytime in between.

Chiropractic helps women often have less pain, sleep better, & are able to move better throughout their pregnancy.

We suggest that pregnant moms be checked and adjusted throughout their pregnancy. We want them to have full nerve power to their uterus & ovaries, & that their pelvis is aligned with no torsion throughout this important time.

At Campbell Chiropractic, we can give an adjustment on a foam pillow with the middle carved out to cradle the growing baby belly. Our mothers love this relaxing position!

HOW IS A PRENATAL
ADJUSTMENT DIFFERENT?

We have a special technique called Webster, that helps both you & your baby! We use it to make sure that your pelvis is in a nice, balanced position, focusing on the muscles, bones & ligaments.

As the baby grows, your uterus can be torqued, your bones misaligned & your round ligaments on both sides become stretched.

As the baby grows heavier & you prepare for delivery, we may suggest that you get adjusted more frequently, depending on how your body is holding your adjustments.

HELP WITH LABOR AND DELIVERY

We use a special technique called, Webster, which was created to contribute to safer, easier births for mothers & used throughout pregnancy to help eliminate the causes of dystocia (difficult birth).

Webster has also been shown to have an 82% success rate of helping babies turn head down(vertex). (4)

By the 7th month of pregnancy, baby needs to be head down (vertex). If not, then mom has In-Utero Constraint. Meaning the baby is not in the right position and her muscles, ligaments, and biomechanics may be causing outside pressure on her developing baby creating strain on the baby and may cause a more difficult birth.

Think about how it feels if you are in bed, under the sheets, but someone is lying on TOP of the sheets. You can’t move around freely, can you? It’s the same for your baby when your hips & joints are misaligned.

This causes your baby’s movements & development to be restricted. Chiropractic helps to balance & realign you so that your baby can innately move in your pelvis into the best position for birth. It can also provide relief for you!

Misalignments can even lengthen your labor & delivery. Regular chiropractic adjustments from a trained prenatal chiropractor keep you & your baby be primed for a beautiful delivery.

WHY SHOULD I GET ADJUSTED POSTPARTUM?

Helps your body heal and recover
Decrease low back pain

Decrease SI joint pain
Decrease neck & shoulder pain
Restores joints to proper alignment as your body tightens & returns to normal.

After the baby is born, the hormone Relaxin, which loosened all mom’s ligaments during pregnancy preparing her for birth, starts to decrease. This is a key time to get adjusted so that you can recover from birth in alignment, with a good foundation.

You can come be adjusted as soon as you leave the hospital or are cleared by your midwife. Even after a cesarean section, we can modify our adjustments to help you recover from this major surgery.

New moms can experience a lot of discomforts, pain, muscle

spasms in their lower back, upper back & neck. This can lead to numbness & tingling in your arms or legs, & headaches. Adjustments can provide a lot of relief! We want to take care of you, as you take care of your new baby.
